Dirk Petri has been a lawyer since 2002 and is a certified specialist lawyer in criminal law and tax law, as well as a data protection officer of the Technical Oversight Association (TÜV).  Before joining  in 2015, Mr. Petri was a partner of a criminal law boutique firm in Cologne for many years.  Colleagues say that he is "reliable and competent" and furthermore "a strong communicator" (JUVE- German Commercial Law Firms 2015/2016, p. 633).  Mr. Petri is "fast, competent and goal-oriented" and he "keeps the overall picture in view and has a calming effect" (JUVE-2016/2017, p. 888).  He is also described as "a strong negotiator" and "experienced, focused, fast and good" (JUVE 2017/2018, p. 910) and also as "very skilled and dedicated" and "excellent" (JUVE 2018/2019, p. 910).  The publication FOCUS Special also ranked Mr. Petri among the "TOP lawyers" in the area of criminal law in 2019.

Dirk Petri advises and represents companies and individuals in all areas of white collar criminal law.  One of his main areas of practice is in employment criminal law.  Dirk Petri represents the interests of the affected companies and their management bodies in criminal law issues such as social security law or allegations resulting from occupational accidents.  He also provides advice on issues of criminal compliance.  In addition, he focuses on defence in corruption and anti-trust criminal proceedings.

A further element of Dirk Petri's legal practice lies in IP criminal law ("Intellectual Property"), where trademark, patent and copyright infringements, to the competitive detriment of companies, are the focus.  Such advice and representation is situated particularly in the automotive sector.  Dirk Petri is speaker of the IP Criminal Law Working Group of the Economic Criminal Law Association (WisteV e.V.).

Mr. Petri is a member of the Criminal Law Committee of the Cologne Bar Association (KAV), the Cologne Bar Association (KAV), the German Bar Association (DAV), the Criminal Law Working Group of the German Lawyers Association, the Economic Criminal Law Association (WisteV e.V.), the German Centre for Business Criminal Law (DZWiSt e.V.) and the Tax and Legal Excellence Network.
