Christof Püschel is a founding partner of the firm verte|rechtsanwälte. He has been a lawyer since 1996 and a certified specialist lawyer in criminal law since 1999. In addition to representing companies in criminal law, his focus is on defending accused individuals. Colleagues say that he combines "the heart of a defence lawyer with the mind of commercial criminal law" (JUVE-Handbook of German Commercial Law Firms 2010/2011). He is considered "inventive, combative, reliable" (JUVE-Handbook 2013/2014), "good, fast and business compatible" (JUVE-Handbook 2015/2016) and "sovereign and clever" (JUVE-Handbook 2017/2018). In 2017, the journal "FOCUS" named Mr. Püschel among Germany's "top lawyers" in the area of criminal law.
Christof Püschel is a member of the executive committee of the Criminal Law Working Group of the German Bar Association (DAV), the largest criminal defence organisation in Europe. He is co-editor of the magazine StraFo and author of numerous publications on substantive criminal law and criminal procedural law. He passes on his knowledge and experience to colleagues as a lecturer and speaker. For example, he trains young lawyers as specialist lawyers for criminal law for the German Bar Association’s Criminal Law Working Group and the German Bar Academy. He also gives lectures on criminal law topics and preventative strategies for companies and commercial law firms.
Attorney Püschel defends in all areas of commercial criminal law. He gives particular consideration to insolvency criminal law. He is, among other things, spokesman for the Insolvency Criminal Law Working Group of the Economic Criminal Law Association (Wirtschaftsstrafrechtlichen Vereinigung e.V.). He also advises and defends freelance members of professions (doctors, lawyers, notaries, tax advisors and auditors) in professional legal proceedings.
