André Bartmeier is our expert at VERTE for all questions regarding the execution of sentences, the penal system, as well as pre-trial detention.
Mr. Bartmeier has many years of experience (2003-2010) as a lawyer in the penal system of North Rhine-Westphalia. His expertise both at the management level of various prisons and from the perspective of the supervisory authority makes him an expert on the inner workings of the prison system. He has extensive practical experience with a wide range of issues relating to the execution of sentences and the penal system. He is also the author of relevant specialist literature on criminal law and pre-trial detention law.
André Bartmeier studied and completed his legal clerkship in Cologne, Manchester (England) and Windhoek (Namibia).
Subsequently, he has worked as a research assistant to the Chair of Criminal Law and Criminal Procedure, Prof. Dr. Klaus Bernsmann, at the Criminal Science Institute of the University of Cologne and for a major law firm specializing in white collar crime. Since 2010 he has been a full-time lecturer for criminal law and criminal procedural law at the University of Applied Sciences for Public Administration North Rhine-Westphalia (FHöV NRW). He is a member of the European Forum for Applied Criminal Policy.
